Chaspar and Archet were running over the far roof of one of the many rooms and sheds of the Palace, Archet made the jump to the Citadel Wall, and Chaspar followed suit, only to see his brother jump onto the first house next to the wall. Chasper sighed, and followed, His brother was now about a rooftop ahead, people were laughing and kids were pointing and running after them, the people have gotten used to the two princes on the roof in recent years. Even the guards were hardly paying attention to the two lords running amok. There were so many smells and sounds. Sweets, Savory, Pepper, All smells he was very familiar with. A meat vendor looked up, a piece of meat in his hands he waved and smiled at Chaspar,

“Fine cut of stag my lord?”  The lynxian shouted and threw it his way, Chaspar, always hungry, being a growing Cat,  jumped and caught the indeed fine piece. Looking over the fine cut, He decided not to wait to eat it, would be a waste now wouldnt it? And Why share with Archet? He devoured it in seconds, purring soflty. He looked around, his brother was not to be seen. He looked around some more as a bad feeling started to crawl up to him his tail raised high, had he fallen?

‘Archet!” Chaspar shouted. Had he let his brother fall? Had he betrayed his family for a cut of stag meat? Chaspar looked around some more, in a quicker fashion, his brother was further ahead of him, right?  If he had fallen it would be more ahead. he would see crowds… People would be crying, nothing like that was happening. Chaspar’s search went on.

He was relieved when he finally saw him, he was sitting on a large roof further downtown. Chaspar made his way towards him and sat down next to him.

Archet was looking forward. His ears perked up a bit, Curious as he was, Chaspar followed his sightline. It didn’t take long for him to find out why. Archet was looking at the “Balagosh School of Etiquette. ” A school for the noble young woman of the Jaguar and Leopard casts. A few of the ladies were outside. talking, eating, the youngest of them playing games.

Chaspar could hear a faint purring coming from his brother. and he had to hide a grin. Was his brother looking at them? Or one of them in particular? He couldn’t resist asking the question.

He leaned in.

“What are we looking at?” He asked softly.

Archet snapped out of his concentrated stare and gave his brother a quick look before he looked back at the school he pointed slightly

“Her” he replied.

Chaspar looked and in the square of the school there was a young Jaguar lady, most likely the same age as Archet, she was playing games with some of the younger Leopards. Even at this distance, Chaspar could see she was in fine shape, with good looks, her fur as shiny as could be in this sun. His brother’s eyes had fallen on a fine young lady. Chaspar heard him purr softly again. it didn’t take the young girls long to notice the two princes on the roof. They started laughing and waving until their teacher scoffed at them. Forcing them back inside. Archet locked eyes with his lady of interest. For him, the moment felt like an age. She waved. If he had the capability to blush, he would have, he cautiously waved back, a small gesture.

This was the first time Chaspar saw his brother, a man he looked up to, appear to be so weak.

The lady Jaguar turned around and headed into the school.

Archet sighed, and Chasper slapped his shoulder and laughed heartily.  He got up and started running. He looked at his brother. Tail raised high, with a mighty grin on his face.

“ Long live the queen!” He yelled.

“Stop that!”Archet yelled back, As he remained seated. He looked back at the school.  Chaspar shook his head and prepaired to go home. “I’ll run ahead. you follow.”

Chaspar was running over the roofs back to the palace. He had left his brother behind, convinced he would be following his trail, while in reality, his brother was still seated near the School. He grinned, his brother is in love, long live the future queen! He was not paying attention, running mindlessly when he heard a board snap. With no time to react, his roof collapsed. With a loud thump, he hit the ground…

He woke up several seconds later and he needed a few more to regain his senses.  The first thing he noticed was the feeling of dread washing over him. This place made him uncomfortable. Looking around, he inspected the room. There was nothing of note here, shelves to his right, and a door. the door seemed miles away, yet must have been no more than a few steps. It was the only way out unless he could find a ladder.  There were sounds he could identify, rats running around, birds chirping outside. But there were other sounds he could not. Like a large step, most definitely not a rat. Out of instinct, he reached for his Kaetersham on his left side only to find he did not have it. He closed his eyes and cursed under his breath, Looking up, he saw it, as well as his belt, hanging from a piece of the roof. He got up slowly and took a step forward. Reaching for his sword. He could not reach the blade.

He breathed slowly, his Leopard eyes adjusted very quickly to the darker part of the room and with the large hole in the roof, there was an ample amount of light for most of the room. He stepped forward onto a board that made a squeaking noise. He looked down at it, then up and towards his right where he heard a growl.  Finally, he laid eyes on the creator of the thumping noise! It seemed to come straight for him! it came straight through the shelves, breaking most of them with a loud snapping sound. It carried no weapons and he could only describe it as a monster! It was not that much larger than him, but most definitely had more muscle. It roared and tried to slash at Chasper with its massive 4 fingered claws, who deftly jumped backward. Scared, but courageous, Chasper dodged another attack, the creature opened its mouth and roared! Its mouth was lined with sharp serrated teeth, much like the sharks that Avian fishermen talk about. Its head was more square than round. It had a large round, almost fat body of a sickening Brownish green color. Chaspar needed a weapon and quickly too.

He knew that taking his eyes off the creature for too long would mean death. Using his agility, he dodged while looking for a weapon. The creature itself seemed content with using its teeth and claws, Chaspar would do so himself but he did not want to take the risk of biting the foul-smelling creature. The creature pounced at him and Chaspar could not evade it. Thrown to the ground, the creature came in for the kill, Chaspar managed to grab its head, the eyes of the creature were a sick milky white, it growled and tried to escape Chaspar’s hold, Chaspar had to think quick before the creature would use its claws to tear him apart! Claws! Chaspar thought. He decided on using his legs and started scratching using his sharp claws.

The pain he inflicted caused the creature to get up and retreat slightly, jumping back on his feet, Chaspar growled and seized the moment and scratched at the creature, inflicting a deep wound on what must be its cheek.  Chaspar then stormed at the beast, pushing it backward with a roar. it hissed and gurgled as it stopped moving. Chaspar got up and took a step back covered in black goo, he looked at the foul thing, he had managed to impale it on a broken piece of one of the shelves. It seemed to be dead. Chaspar sat down and exhaled for what felt like the first time in minutes. Now that the fight was over he could have a good look at it. In his eyes, its head was the shape of like a squarish pumpkin. As well as more than two lines of sharp, serrated teeth. Chaspar heard a loud thump on the floor next to him, he roared and slashed without looking. His attack was deftly blocked by what Chaspar now saw was his brother. He sighed and dropped his head on the shoulder of his slightly larger brother.

“Are you oke?” Archet asked, “ I lost sight of you!” He looked at the beast and got dead silent. Chaspar presumed Archet didn't know what this was. Neither did he.

“I am in one piece.”Chaspar said .”But it put up quite the fight. I have never seen nor heard of a creature like this.”

Archet looked at his brother with serious eyes. Archet must know what it was. It made Chaspar curious. His brother was hiding something.

“Chaspar, you were so lucky! This is an impressive kill!”

Chaspar was still panting but he grinned. “It could have easily been the other way around.”

Archet nodded “It could have easily been so.” He waved Chaspar over.”Come! We must alert father.” He looked at the mangled corpse once more. ‘We must alert father there are Kori in the City”

Chaspar stopped following for but a second. “K-Kori?” He looked at the beast and then back at his brother before following him outside the tall building. “Kori? demons? that was a Kori from Father's tales? They were not a nightmare story?”

Archet shook his head “Kori are far from a nightmare story. Kori are murderous hideous creatures who believe…”

“Who believes the world theirs, yes I know the tales.” Chaspar finished ‘And this was a pretty big one, right?’

Archet looked at the corpse once more. in his eyes Chaspar could see that he was wrong. ‘They get bigger?’

Archet scoffed and nodded.

He then turned to Chaspar and grasped him close “And they could have easily murdered you.” Archet Looked at his younger adopted brother. Chaspar swallowed and nodded. ‘ We must get out of this tower. How though..’ Archet began looking around. Chaspars simply tried the door which opened slowly. ‘Lucky break.’ he stated as the two made their way out onto the tower floor.

‘ now to find the way down without drawing attention.’ Archet said, shortly clearly. The more experienced Cat walked in front carefully, he had his hand in his Kaetarsham ready to pounce if needed. after a short search the two found a staircase leading down in the old decrepit building. It was build in a Kaetarian older style. Chaspar noted the ornamented walls, flower patterns were all over the walls. ‘I wonder what this building used to be for.’

Archet looked around ‘I don't know, an old temple perhaps?’

Maybe father knows, Chaspar wondered, or maybe Taiga.Or Niagal.

The two managed to get out without any more problems, much to their own relieve. The two brothers took one more look over their shoulder before making a run for the keep they had attempted to abandon not am hour earlier.

Entering the main throne room, Chaspar looked around, the nobles were bent over a table. Their father looked up and smiled. Mother was sitting on her throne. Minding her business Looking up as the door opened. Father’s smile quickly faded, as did hers. Archet his face, which Chaspar could not see as he walked in behind him. must have shown fear, or seriousness. Mother's eyes, however, were fully locked on him, it felt loving and unsetelling, Looking down, Chaspar noticed he was still covered in ick. He looked up, oh oh. he thought.

His father approached them.

“My boys. You seem disheartend…. “ Chard began concerned, “What happened to you?!” Chard roared as he spotted Chaspar covered in black ick. At this moment, their mother was already all over Chaspar, she feared he was hurt, Chaspar calmed her down, as she began cleaning his face with the very cloth of her robe.

“Father’ Archet started, bowing, followed by Chaspar . “Father we have stumbled on a possible problem.”

Chard looked at them both, in sequence. Waiting for the reveal. Chaspar swallowed. “Father, I fell through the roof of one of the older buildings of the town. There I met a creature, it tried to kill me.” His father growled. as did some of the bodyguards. Tiaga now got up from his seat and approached.  “When Archet found me when he did. He identified the beast as Kori.”

A silence fell over the room.

Father looked at Archet and spoke in his calm voice. Caring, yet deep and powerful. Certain. “Are you boys well?”

The two young Kaetari nodded.

“Are you certain that you ran into a Kori. If so we may have a major problem. Kori spawn quick.” He continued as he walked to the table. Several Jaguars nodded, and Tiaga followed the King as he continued. “If Kori spawn in the middle of the City, our entire population may be at risk” He spoke with certainty. Clear purpose and goal. Chaspar knew the lives of his people meant as much to Chard as the lives of his family.

“Tiaga, I require you to escort Chaspar to the building in question with a guard. There you will comb this building. Burn it if you have to. But there will be no Kori in my cities!.” Chard growled loudly. Tiaga nodded as he turned towards the armory. ”I will grab my wargear.” Tiaga looked at Chaspar with a seriousness rarely seen by the young Keatar. Tiaga pointed at him.
‘We leave in ten minutes, you better be ready, sir.”
