Wile on there way into town his father was about to help them practice their fire, lightning, shield, and in Kreshjsir's case, dark spells. At first he had been excited. "Why does magic have to be so limited?" Kresh said.

"Simply put, it takes to much energy." Kresh gave him a dead pan. "How too word this exactly, hmmmm? Well, the spells we fling don't come from no where, we have to power it, yes?" Kresh nodded. "Since...What we need to do is put more power, and impact. Or in other words, make magic more solid. But how does one go about making magic, just energy, become solid. Wave your arms, and it wont become a rock. It simply swings. I'm struggling explain this, I feel like I'm in the weeds, explaining what you already know." Getoaresh said.

I think I get it. It's like water. We need to put it in a container so it remains as molded. But that container we make is really bad. It's made of the some liquid we're trying to keep in it. So they eventually become one, and then fall apart." Kresh said.

"I hadn't thought about it that way, thanks Kresh." Abidyn said.

"Yes, ya. That's about right." Geto said. "Let's do some practice. Go on use some lightning. Feel how you just build up just enough magic and send it flying, in a rather chaotic way. Can you feel how its nearly the same as when you pick something up and swing it? The only focus is what direction you want it to go. You too Abidyn. Now try some fire. Feel how your holding the magic back? That feeling of it getting stronger as you focus it? How it is straining to coming undone? Focus on holding it in that shape for as long as you can."

Kresh could see the strain on his brothers face. He also struggled to maintains the fires shape, fixing the parts that unraveled with more energy on instinct. Which made it harder to maintain as he had to hold more magic. He lost control of it, and it spilled onto the cart. He panicked a bit, afraid it would damage the cart. But at some point his father had thrown a shield on the cart under both him and his brother. The familiar mist swelling, then fading back into the cart. Wait he'd put a shield on him too.

"Dark and light spells are very simple, and as a result have simple uses. You either make a ball of light similar to fire. Your not trying to make it stronger per say, just make your own light. Dark is a tiny bit different, you try make it so you cant see any light in an area." Geto said.

Kresh was disappointed with dark spells. Overcoming the light of mid day was hard, and he had to focus it into a smaller and smaller spot. He may be able to use light in a way to look like the suns reflection. It would be tough to make it in a way that isn't obviously a spell.

Kreshjsir started to try out different ways to use light spells. He tried putting a light in his face to see how bad it was, then work from there. Reflections would the best, but only a small number of things reflect light. Maybe he could make a reflection on... no that's to obvious. Kresh must have been trying to figure it out for a wile because his thoughts where interrupted.

"Lieutenant Luanart, it's good to see you." Getoaresh called up to the wall.

"Sir Getoaresh, we've been waiting for you. I'm told we got most of what you asked for to the warehouse. If you'd be so kind as to wait, it will only take a little wile longer. Oh and the mayor said she needs to talk to you, I'll call ahead, she will probably meet you there." Luanart called down as he appeared at the top of the gate.

"Sir? I'm no noble, and I married into the Druganaji family." Geto said.

"Ha your more noble than any noble, besides farmers are better than nobles" Luanart said.

"My friend, the noble actually own the land, and they are the ones pay, and lead the guards. I'd take their troops over the army or royal guards any day. Heck, the merchant guards are even better than the army."

"What army? The loyalists and royal guards have disbanded most the army, cant well have someone compete for power can you? But I get where your coming from, those extra guards are appreciated. Not as good as having a portal mage."

"Nev... lord Mentanne actually was ordered to take the town mage with him. The capital even recalled their portal mage." Geto said.

"Really?! They pushing the common folk to much. Making lords pick between having a mage in their forts, or the towns they protect is a disaster waiting to happen." Luanart said.

"Emene has been furious about it. She is checking in with the adventurers at their hub today. They have seen an increase of monster as of late. And so have you, so I'm told."

"I've compared our sightings with theirs, and they definitely have seen more. When is Mentanne suppose to be back with the mage?"

"Should be tomorrow morning."

"Good, Anyways, I should let you get going. That messenger should have found the mayor. I'll talk to you on your way out. See you in a little wile my lord."

Geto shook his head, and moved the cart forward. The guards near the gate bowing as they passed. He started heading to the warehouses. Kresh was itching to go explore. He hasn't been able to explore that housing district yet. "Father, can I go into town? Kresh said.

"Where do you plan on wondering too?" Geto said.

"I bet its the houses close to these wall here." Abidyn said.

"Okay Kresh, tell me why I should let you go there."

Kresh rolled his eye "father you know as well as I do that no one will do anything to me."

"No son, you need to always think about some of the bad things that can happen, and be careful. Especially if you think you have nothing to worry about."

"Fine! I will watch out, and wont agree to go into people houses, and I will always have a way to run if i need to. I'll also keep an eye out, and not let someone sneak up on me."

"How much of that last part is based on your love of sneaking" Geto said with smirk. "Alright you can go, but like usual, be careful.

"I can keep an eye on him dad. Going with you, and having everyone stare at me sounds terrible. And so does listening to you and the mayor drivel on and on." Abidyn said.

Abidyn and Kresh climbed down from the cart and headed down the street following the wall. Last time Kresh had noticed a bunch of trees last time he was here. He was excited to see if he could find his new little friend. As they approached what had to be a pet park, he could hear snorts. Maybe he will get to see a coon. He spotted the plump pink figure he'd hope to find. He noticed the black and brown spot on it's shoulder. He grinned as it noticed and excitably ran up to him. Before he could do anything the pigsy jumped and and sent him sprawling to the ground. He heard Abidyn laughing. "Wow little guy, you didn't need to tackle me, I would have gotten down to pet you. Sorry I don't have any food for you."

He started petting vigorously, pigsy's are just so soft and smooth. He couldn't decide which one he like more, the cuddly pink ones, or the fury ones. This one loved to be pet and cuddle. The big plump... girl? Felt so nice, and was close to his size, so he hugged it around the neck. He Kresh really should learn who's pet this was, maybe they could teach him how to get other pigsys so friendly.

"Oh awesome, it brought a friend" he heard Abidyn say.

Kresh unburied his face from the neck of the pigsy searching desperately for what his brother was looking at. And there it was, its little bandit face staring at them with curiosity. This orange coon sat down letting Kresh get a look at its striped tail. So they do match their main fur color! Abidyn had walked over and held out hand before petting it.

Kresh stood up, booping the pigsy on its big flat nose, careful to avoid its big nostrils. He brushed his hands together, the pigsy must have gotten into sand or dirt that had stuck in its oils. Kresh then headed for his brother and the coon.

"Now don't rush over here, or make it seem like your going to try to capture the coon." Abidyn said.

Kresh nodded and casually walked over to them, the pigsy trailing behind. He walked to up to the coon putting his hand out before petting and to his suprise, the coon reached out and grabbed his hand. "mmmmmmmmmmmmmm" so cute! "Hey Kresh, watch." Abidyn said with a grin.

He pulled out a little bit of bread and offered it to the coon. It sniffed the bread, then took it from him. Where is it going? He watched as the coon took the bread further into the park, to a small creek. Ah he did actually hear water. Wait what is... Kresh watched as the coon put the bread in the water and tried to clean it? He couldn't help but laugh as some of the bread washed away, and the coon frantically tried to catch the piece. "They like to wash their food. I probably should have given it something other than bread. But it's all I have." Abidyn said with a laugh.

They played with the pets in the park for a wile. "Okay Kresh lets head back and check on dad see if he's done." Abidyn said.

Awh I wanted to explore the area! He will have to come back later. They started winding their way to the warehouse district. As they got closer they could see that the cart had almost been completely loaded up. Kreshjsir glanced at his father and mayor Suadana. She somehow looked dark and gloomy despite her olive skin with golden undertone, and silver hair. They where still talking as they walked up.

"Most the town is in the farmlands right now. Some of this is for them, you can take it to them yourself, but they know you have what they need. The ones you can't be bothered to give these to will show up to grab it at your house, some may even come by as your driving your cart back." Suadana said.

Getoaresh went to say something "Sir, mam! We have a problem at the wall... Where you came in sir." the guard that was running up was saying, slightly out of breath. "We... need you both to come immediately... please leave the cart for now." He turned around and started rushing back to the wall.

Everyone followed the guard in a rush, heading down the towns biggest road. As They neared the wall they could see the lieutenant from before standing on the wall watching whatever was on the other side of the wall. Kresh noticed that the gate was completely closed, with guards rushing to brace the gate. "Luanart, what is the meaning of this" called out Suadana

Luanart turned around and Kresh watched in horror as Luanart had three fire spells slam into into him. He stumbled forward, the shield fog flaring out and then dissipating. He was then hit with 6 more fires from every direction outside the wall. The force of it all sent the poor man off the wall.

These first parts are here for you to enjoy. Please consider helping fund me on my patreon. I always deeply appreciate anything you give me, even if that's something as simple as view. I will try to get out a chapter every week.
